HILARIOUS, NOT SCARY

There are horror stories that were never meant to be scary, just utterly ironical and funny and „An American werewolf in London” is one of those stories.

All the trademark werewolf script elements will be there, as well as some hilarious dialogues between the dead and the living. On the other hand, special effects and acting will just be horrible, so that kinda evens up the score.

„An American werewolf in London” was better to have been directed as a comedy than a horror movie.

DEJA VU

Horror movies are in a huge crisis. Huge. Especially those revolving around exorcism.

When it hit theatres , „The Conjuring” was something of a refreshment, going back to the roots of the genre and subgenre. However, even then it was obvious that won't be the last one of documentary-like stories about the religious exorcist married couple (Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson).

The second part of the franchise brought us nothing new, plainly switching the location to London and repeating all the frames, cuts and scary sounds of the first one. The only major difference being the very end, blunt even by the subgenre's standards.

„The Conjuring 2” is just a repeating of the same concept without any significant novelties.

TOM HARDY FANS ONLY

Movies outside the US are well off the radar of the Academy, and so are the roles of the established Hollywood actors in those flicks.

The story of the notorious Cray twin brothers that led London's underground in the '60s and '70s offered a unique opportunity for Tom Hardy to show everything he knows as one of the leading actors of his generation. And he delivered everything asked of him almost impeccably, especially when it comes to the role of deranged and bipolar Ronnie Kray.

Sadly, the script and supporting cast falls behind, leaving „Legend” floating somewhere between the movie it could have been and the corny stereotype it is.

„Legend” will be loved by Tom Hardy fans and not many more.

Momentum from the fifth part somewhat slows down in „Fast & Furious 6”, bringing the crew to London to hunt for the international terrorist. Some of the characters are gone, some new ones are there as well as the ghosts of the past. Action sequences are solid, as well as some of the new concepts, such as the CGI filled ending scenes.

„Fast & Furious 6” is one the better parts of the saga, but certainly not the best one.
