GREAT, BUT AS A STANDALONE FEATURE

„The Rocky” saga quickly lost its momentum and stalled into a complete mess with its fifth part („Rocky Balboa”), raising the question of further sustainability of the entire franchise.

„Creed” offers a fresh start, with the story just loosely connected to the previous parts, and with little or no Sylvester Stallone involvement. The Sly himself represents the weakest link of the entire (otherwise solid) cast and script. Fights are more real than ever, with some actual fighters taking part in the movie. The pathetic emotions tend to stay below the level of unacceptability, opening the doors to a much needed standalone spin-off distance from the original script.

„Creed” is one of the most pleasant movie surprises in the year behind us.
